PROBLEMS WITH ANIMATION!!

several problems ...
1. the walk cycle doesn't come through. pretty sure i followed and checked everything.
I believe the problem is due to a different way of rigging?
2. he does a thrust... the animation for his attack his run animation but it resets to his walk every time u click creating a Michael Jackson sorta move.. ?!?!? 0_O!

Mapping Terrain

I imported the terrain package to create the sand desert look.

i used rocks to cover the edges of the terrain map. because the terrain map was flat. i needed some sort of way of covering the edges that destroyed the floating island static. rocks worked perfectly.

1. i create the mesh and formed the seams for uv mapping.

2. then came the rigging.

I created a platform from blender which i rotated and situated under the terrain to Create this floating island look.

The sky box texture i used was one of clouds. this gave me the idea to set up my terrain map so that it looks like its floating in the sky.

since this is the location where the boss fight takes place. i decided to incoporate the boss as part of the asthetic.

New characters

I decided to create a new character because i was mainly bored of the old one.
I will reuse my old character as the boss.
for the new character i wanted to experiment with the human form.
To create a simple knight. I knew rigging would be a challenge but thats what i want
to be able to achieve.

Music is vital to the gameplay experience.
Audio effects and music must be considered carefully to introduce the emotion of the stituation.

Tradition for knights to hunt down the dragon.
game starts with the opening screen.

fade into opening still movie scene.. of the sword bowing against the wind.
( the only remains of the battle that took place)
game starts.

some kid opens a book about medieval dragons... and the game is basically taking place
in this kids imagination as he reads through a picture book about a knights take on the dragon.
one of the pages is a short tutorial on how to play the game. cheezy 2d animation.

Dragon

I like the idea that shadow of the colossus. the idea of scale and the way the hero has difficulty fighting the boss. i want to create a game that takes about half an hour to complete. but in the process really immerse the player in the struggle of hunting down something so massive.

the dragon can fly. so u have to chase after it.
the dragon can blow fire. so u hide against rocks.
it can use its tail to whack u.
so many things that can be played with.

THE HERO

when i was thinking of an epic battle... i first started thinking about 2 great warriors... however that is very limited whereas the knight and the dragon defer soo much in that the knight is small weak and the dragon is all powerful. good triumphs over evil and the big contrast of the 2 make it a better choice. also the dragon and the knight in terms of gameplay have more to work with. the dragon could be breathing down fire and the knight be running his pants off. or the knight could be riding on his horse.

The last Project ( 285) we spent too much time in developing the story and characters and minions of the game that i felt the end result was a poorly finished ending. From that, i feel like i owe it to create a game targeted for just a boss fight and a dramatic ending. Just focusing on 2 characters. The hero and the boss. the success of the game will be on the music and the visuals.

Brief

an organism that weighs either less than 10 grams, or greater than 1000 kilograms. Create a 3D model of this creature, along with a portion of its habitat. Character design is an integral part of computer gaming and there are a multitude of styles and techniques to observe, critique and draw inspiration from. While looking at some of the more successful examples in the industry, we will also be running through in-class demo’s that cover character design, game illustration and basic animation techniques, such as creating a walk-cycle.
